That is because your tank is simply a chamber that collects all the scum and sludge from your sewer and allows the gray water to exit the tank and enter the drain field. Your tank is full and needs pumped when the sludge and scum levels accumulate in your tank – usually about every 3 years.

How can I find my septic tank?

If you have a 4 inch white pipe sticking up in your grass, there’s a good chance that your septic tank is nearby. Typically the septic tank lid is about 2 feet away from the 4” pipe. If you have no pipe you may need to hire a professional to locate your tank for you.
